Role Play Terminology, Abbreviations, and Symbols
Everything is listed in Alphabetical Order.
Action Mode
Form of Rping that involves:
- Asterisks (*) around actions
- Quotations ("") around thoughts
- Character name in front of the additions made by the character to the RPG
- First or third person
- Present tense
- Lack of character sheet
Example:
Grey: *slowly walks in, looking around until she sees the young man across the room* Aoshi! Hey, Aoshi, over here! *yells, jumping in the air*
Aoshi: *looks over to where the voice was, but can't see the short girl in the crowd* "Damn her shortness..." *looks around until he finally sees her and walks towards her*
Gary Stu
Male Version of Mary Sue
Example:
Name: Gary
Gender: M
Age: 20
Description: Black hair, beautiful smile, soft brown eyes to die for, and a great, tan body, save
the scars that mark him. Well sized, too. (I'll leave that to the reader's imaginations.)
Background: He was raised by a violently abusive foster family after his parents left him to die in a dumpster. Nonetheless, he grew to be a kind and caring guy who loves animals and long walks on the beach.
God Moding
Making a character have an unfair advantage over other characters. Can be in a fight or similar situations.
Example:
No matter what Cuthbert, Angrite and the other gunslingers did, the young boy who'd hardly fought a day in his life outran them all, shooting them down one by one without hesitation, their blood painting the carpet crimson.
(Seems cool from this point of view, but think how you'd feel if you were controlling Angrite. Not that frackin' cool now, is it?)
IM
Instant Messages, or the services for instant messaging.
Example: AIM, Yahoo IM, MSN, etc.
Livejournal
Online journal site. Www.livejournal.com to get a journal. Communities can be used for RPGs.
Example: Soapgate. Look it up, though, since I'm not posting the link where any under 18 person could get it in a PG-13(ish) book. And I‘m lazy. ._.;;
Mary Sue
Overly perfect character, Role Played as such.
Example:
Name: Mary
Gender: F
Age: 20

Pairing
Two characters that are in a romantic relationship.
Example: Yuuki and Ikane are a pairing.
RPer
Person that Role Plays.
Example: FlyingArcanine, Angrite, Bunny, etc. (BUNNY!!!!! ^_^)
RPG
Role Playing Game. Place to Role Play.
Example: The Chaotic Knights RPG
